With Chuseok of Korea just around the corner (14th Sept to 16th Sept), we'd like to introduce a Korean Traditional snack that is eaten by Koreans during Chuseok - it is called Hangwa~

Origin
Hangwa was invented in the era of Three Kingdom. It was recorded in the record of ceremonies in "Samguk Yusa". It became widely known and popular during Goryeo Kingdom, when Buddhist regime surppressed meat and the production of grains increased. Hangwa became incredibly popular when a type of hangwa, called yakgwa (as shown in the picture below) was made in Goryeo Kingdom.

Nowadays
Yagwa is slightly different from normal hangwa. It is typically round in shape with rippled edge. It comes with different designs, with each patterns representing a wish. For example, butterflies represent happy marriage; bats bring fortune; pine trees represent the beginning of new year; lotus represents harmony; pomegranate for fertility & etc.
Showing to you below are the other pictures of hangwa:

P/S: I personally tried one of these. It is suitable for people who love foods that do not have strong taste. ^_^ The colourful appearance of it makes it very attractive and it is also crispy. :D
